Pharmacy School Rankings Pharmacy School Rankings Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician School Resources The Latest Rankings for Pharmacy Schools Certification Info for a Pharmacist… Salary for a Pharmacist Technician The Latest Rankings for Pharmacy Schools So, are pharmacy school rankings all that important? As with any question dealing with life planning, the answers are totally subjective and, depending on a number of variables, can be answered with both a Yes and a No. If you are looking at any kind of educational school rankings you might be trying to ascertain what schools offer the best training programs for the medicine work specialty that you are interested in. If those rankings offered a quantifiable gage of how well they are able to teach you HOW to learn then they would be of greater value. The fact that there are no measurable parameters for such evaluation is too bad. Such might save a lot of money and change the face of education for pharmacologists. It still remains true that learning how to learn is probably more important than what you learn. Studies have shown that within eight years much of the material that was taught in the average program from any 4 year graduate school is rendered obsolete by advances in science and technology. If you are checking the rank of certain schools to determine how others think about the importance of a particular, (and always more expensive), school you may be mistakenly placing a lot of value on the prestige that a degree from a certain school might afford to you. This really depends on what our ultimate goals are though and how we see ourselves using that prestige to advance our careers. If you plan on working for a high paying medical center or a large pharmaceutical company, say, in research and development, a degree from one of the highest rated schools might be a logical step in that direction. You had better have the documentation that goes to the job interview though. Pharmacist Education Regardless of whether you graduate from one of the top rated schools in the country or from one of lesser stature, to catch a slot in one of these positions you will have to achieve high marks and stay there throughout your academic experience. Aside from the hiring requirements of the prospective companies, there will be massive competition for each and every spot. Many of the pharmacy school rankings that you will be looking at will be under the broader category of ‘medical school’ as you will ultimately hope to become at the other end a Dr. of Pharmacology. The medical schools of note, the ones who consistently turn out high achievers in the United States carry a certain weight in people’s minds when dealing with those graduates in a professional setting. Someone who barely squeaks through the thesis stage of their undergraduate program or scores marginally in the chemistry training will have a hard time snagging a top research post with Dow, or Phiser when the records get reviewed; and they will get reviewed. Even a nursing career might be out of reach is such a case. It sounds impressive to mention USC, or Rutgers, or U of Chicago as alma-maters. But is a little ego stroking worth spending tens of thousands of dollars more than at a mid-range or smaller school for the same degree? If you took the test and passed the admissions exam test, (which are pretty much the same no matter where you end up going), the outcome, (whether for high end posting, or bragging rights), is determined by the initiative of the individual. Focus, drive, and hard work are mandatory to carry you where you want to go. If someone graduates from a more humble sounding school, but had performed brilliantly, (and can get an audience with a high end employer), then they have perhaps a better shot than average achievers from the best schools in the land. The one overwhelming factor that does cast favorability points to the larger more well-known schools is that they are generally located in denser population areas. Greater student body population that allows for development of high visibility sports programs can and does draw attention and revenues from big sports venues. This and other factors in turn bring funding, grants and endowments that allow for new technology, state of the art facilities, and therefore, perhaps a better learning environment. So, yes rankings are important. Here’s a Video About Pharmacy Schools Pharmacy School Rankings Affiliate Disclaimer | Privacy Policy | DMCA Copyright ? 2014. All Rights Reserved. Whois
